Introduction:
Data is crucial for understanding if ESE will be beneficial, and if so to what extent. Knowing/predicting this to the best of our abilities can help us evaluate if the benefits for the project outweigh the costs. We need to consider both the costs of the projects and benefits in the form of decreased journey times that it will provide. Therefore, the data analysis is split into these 2 sections.
Below are the conclusions, however it is highly recommended you go through each to view how the conclusions were reached.
Cost Analysis
Total (Paddington - Teddington): £463,671,438 - £708,916,358
Total (Both branches): £518,671,438 - £802,318,588
This number (even the upper bound) in reality is likely to be slightly higher due to certain costs we did not consider. (see analysis method)
Journey time Analysis
In conclusion, the ESE branch line too Teddington alone will reduce journey times from residential hubs in SW London to job hubs across London by 40-70%.
49.8% decrease on average for journeys on the line alone.
37.2% decrease on average for journeys using other lines to get onto ESE (surrounding areas of SW London)
